We're Off to See the Wizard
Monday, January 23, 2012Hi everyone! Today's card that I want to share is a card I made for The Greeting Farm's Customer Challenge weekend over at Split Coast Stampers! The theme for this week's challenge is Favourite Children's Book, and I have chosen to go with The Wizard of Oz. I have turned one of my Anyas from the new Miss Anya Garland set into Dorothy with a gingham print, ruby slippers, and dark brown plaits. I paper pieced her banner with green DPs and wrote the word OZ on it.
I made some cascading hills using my Crate Paper DP, and drew in the yellow brick road. The green glittery thing at the back is MEANT to be the Emerald City - but that thing is hard to make! Haha - if you get a chance google the emerald city and you will know what I mean!
The sky background was done using my Broken China distress ink. I created a circular template for the clouds and sponged the ink over the top of the template to create the cloud and sky effect. This was a really easy technique that is quite effective - I am thinking that I will add a tutorial for this shortly! I finished the card off with some green zigzag stitching just to ground the colours.
Dorothy was coloured using my copic markers. I finally have my new skin coloured copics and they certainly make a difference!
Thanks for stopping by :)

ReplyDeleteI saw your card at Make it Monday and I stopped by to see more.
Looking forward to see some of your other work. I'm new at paper-carfting, so I'm colecting some new ideas as I go along other artist's blogs. I love tips I get from bloggs. Sometimes the simpliest things get such good results :-)
Happy Crafting. Best regards from Slovenia. Katarina XXX
Ohhhhhh how wonderful! A card after my home state! You really did an amazing job with the paper piecing here. Your hills look amazing and I love the banner on Dorothy. :) I laughed at the Emerald City bit. I think it's perfect just the way it is.
